Under some re-construction as of 10/10/11. New look and layout, couple things I need to fix. :)

Best iPad Apps

a.k.a. Apps worth at least looking at
( IMHO, updated periodically )

Flipboard  Not sure how long this one will be around but very cool.  This will raise the fair use discussion again.

Appstream  Buggy but very cool way to find new apps and demonstration of why icons / logos are important.

WikiHood  This is a really neat idea combining what Yelp/Where were trying to do with Wikipedia and Google maps.

Uzu Hypnotic and fun. One of the best demonstrations of what you can do with multitouch I have seen yet.

Bloomberg  Really nice implementation, easy to use.

Feedler  Pretty good RSS reader and pro version will sync for offline reading.  Let me know if you have one you like better.

Spheroids  I am not a big gamer and was never very good at asteroids, but for those of us who never grasped combo moves and long for the days of only two buttons on the controller, this is for you.

Bubble MegaShift

Words with Friends HD  Like Scabble but better.  Much better implementation, multiplayer iPhone to iPad, turn based with push.

USA Today Seventh? grade reading level is great when you are tired and easy to navigate.

Wall Street Journal Update to this application improves usability. While the content is good, the controls for page turning and such are different from all other news apps. I get what they are trying to do and there are some nice swipe functions but I still cannot figure out how to go 'back' a step after tapping an article. BUT, it caches a few days of news which is great because it can be read without Internet access, airplane, middle of nowhere, etc.  Not convinced worth a subscription but trying it out.  Do *not* like that they block cut and paste even of a paragraph.

iBooks  Can drop PDFs into iTunes now.  I like that it syncs last position to my iPhone too.  I still think it is easier to read books on iPhone 3GS and 4 than on the iPad.  Maybe next iPad will have higher screen resolution.

Pandora  I have not listened to FM in two years.  Pandora One is nice cheap upgrade.  iPhone also.

WunderMap  I love weather apps.  There are a few for iPad but this one is simple and loads fast.

Marvel Comics  I had not read a comic book in 20 years and am really enjoying Captain America.  iPhone also.

Gaia GPS  I have not fully explored this app, but have used it on hikes to track altitude changes, path, etc.  Will be better for iPad when iOS 4.x is available so can background it.  Works on iPhone too.  Good support.  iPhone also.

Popular Mechanics Interactive This application is one of the best candidates I have seen for the magazine of the future with static and interactive content. If you have ever tried to click a link on a paper magazine, you will love this app.

Like the old bubble breaker but bigger.
